If you read our Amsterdam post then you already know that we stayed with an awesome family. As a result of their amazing hospitality we were able to save a BUTTLOAD of money in a usually very expensive city. Not only were we able to stay with them but they also allowed us to eat with them which brings the Food and Drink line item down significantly. Take a look at what we spent while in Amsterdam:
There is no need for a breakdown of prices in this post. We were able to keep our lodging costs at $0 and the only thing we really spent on was food and drinks when we went out on the town. Even the initial taxi ride to our house was pricey at $45 so being able to save in this city was huge for us.
