Dates Visited - September 2019
Highlights - Seeing our family! But in terms of the sights we really enjoyed Sanssouci Palace, Wernigerode Castle, and all of the powerful museums in Berlin.
Summary - We are partial to Germany because we got to see our family for the first time since leaving. Family aside we enjoyed our time and had a good mix of hiking and sightseeing opportunities. We obviously didn’t go down south to the Munich area but there was still plenty to see up North.
Suggestions - Go to the smaller towns in Germany. Here you will find the Germany that you probably imagine (cute small wooden cottages, big cheaper beers, brat stands, etc.). You don’t even have to stay in these small towns because you can just do day trips to a couple and then head back to your home base.
We’ve been very fortunate up to this point but there have been some close calls.
