Highlights - The Acropolis of Athens was a highlight of our entire trip. We also really enjoyed our time in Ionannina and wish we had a few more days there.

Summary - All the attention usually goes to the Greek islands but we really enjoyed our time in mainland Greece and it probably goes without saying that you will save a few bucks on the mainland as well.

Suggestions - If you are up north in Albania, Montenegro, or any other country and looking to get down to Athens then you don’t have to necessarily jump on a plane. Grab a bus and make a couple of short stops along the way. Specific suggestions would be to do the free walking tour in Athens before going to the museum or Acropolis.
